Fintech company Rebellion Pay has established itself as one of the most innovative startups in the financial sector by obtaining an electronic money license in Lithuania, alongside giants like Google and Facebook. Founded in 2017 by Álex Sagrado and Sergio Cerro, the company positions itself as the go-to neobank for Generation Z, with an agile, no-fine-print approach tailored to the digital needs of young users.
Fully compatible with Google Pay and Apple Pay — and being the first Spanish startup to obtain Apple certification — Rebellion offers a fully operational bank account in under five minutes, along with a virtual or physical Mastercard accepted worldwide. It also enables free cash withdrawals, instant peer-to-peer payments, and mobile payments.
Rebellion even caters to minors — with prior authorization from a legal guardian — making it ideal for situations such as school trips. “With our cards, you only spend what you have, no risk,” says CEO Sergio Cerro.
The fintech currently has over 50,000 users and plans to add a Spanish IBAN this summer, which will make it easier to set up direct debits and receive salaries. With offices in Madrid and Vilnius and an international team of over 30 people, Rebellion is now setting its sights on expansion into Latin America.
