The thematic TV channel TEN is reinforcing its strategy through a new partnership. Mediapro, the audiovisual group led by Jaume Roures, has reached an agreement with Secuoya to provide content for the channel in an effort to enhance its relevance and appeal within the Spanish television landscape.
According to both companies, the goal of the collaboration is to offer a more compelling lineup for viewers and to position TEN as a more competitive option on digital terrestrial television (DTT), following years of modest audience performance.
A Channel with Limited Traction
Since its launch in April 2016, TEN has struggled to establish itself among the most-watched channels. With a current average audience share of just 0.3%—on par with Real Madrid TV—its highest historical rating was 0.5%, first reached in July 2016 and matched sporadically in the months that followed.
A New Push Following Shareholder Changes
This strategic move comes amid a restructuring of Secuoya’s shareholder base. Investment fund Partner Group recently acquired the stake previously held by Alantra. In addition, Gala Capital has joined the company’s capital after purchasing the 14% stake owned by Secuoya’s chairman Raúl Berdonés and CEO Pablo Jimeno.
With this new momentum and the support of a powerhouse like Mediapro, TEN aims to reverse its declining trend and secure a stronger position in the national TV programming lineup.
