Secuoya Studios and Tiki Group to produce the first fiction series filmed on Easter Island

Secuoya Studios, the audiovisual production division of the Secuoya group, and the production company Tiki Group (Chile-Mexico) are collaborating to create “La Isla”, the first fiction series shot on the remote Easter Island (Rapa Nui), a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The series, a thriller consisting of eight episodes of 50 minutes each, is set in this spectacular and mysterious location, famous for its monumental Moai statues and its ancient Polynesian culture. The plot revolves around the disappearance of a Spanish tourist and the investigation led by her best friend and a former Rapanui police officer to find her.

The project is directed by Guillermo Amoedo, an acclaimed Latin American filmmaker awarded for his film The Stranger (2014). The script is written by Eligio Montero, a Goya nominee known for his work in Spanish series and films, and Boris Quercia, a successful Chilean noir writer and director.

Due to the special protection of Rapa Nui’s heritage, filming permits are extremely restrictive; only two previous productions have been shot there: the film Rapa Nui (1994) and some scenes of the series Ioana (1998). Tiki Group has obtained authorization to film entirely on the island, including locations never filmed before, making “La Isla” the first fiction series fully shot there.
